The statue of The Blessed Virgin Mary above the altar

Our first group outing was to

St George’s Cathedral on 6th March to see

‘Born for This’.

An amazing play about Christ’s Passion. Based on the Stations of the Cross it was fantastically acted, sung and enjoyed.

Although St George’s is in the middle of electrical work, with scaffolding up along one side of the cathedral, it only added to the atmosphere. The lighting and sound system really complemented the songs and the band.

We travelled up by train for the 6:00pm Mass for which the Celebrants wore pink as it was Laetare Sunday.

The Cathedral is really easy to get to from Tolworth or Surbiton stations - we got a bus for two stops from Waterloo but walked back afterwards in about 20 minutes.

Those of you who came to the YPG Mass in September last year might remember Catherine, Jen and the others from Whitstable. They were there helping to sell tickets and flog CD’s after the service.

Verdict: 9/10 (the pews were a bit hard on the bottom!)
