Once again, thank you to all those who organised fundraising events: the schools, parish groups, individuals and home collecting boxes. When people have so many demands on their resources, it is a great credit to our Parish that everyone is so generous and thoughtful of the needs of those so much less fortunate than ourselves.

We have £2,000 held over from last year, as we have had difficulty obtaining the relevant bank account details for one of the projects. The Treasurer has recently had a final attempt; as this has been unsuccessful, it was decided at the committee meeting last Sunday that the £2,000 would be added to this year’s projects.

Therefore the committee discussed how £14,694.19 should be split between the four main projects and the amount that would be donated to the fifth.

The split is shown below.

The balance will be kept for necessary expenses, e.g. purchase of new collecting boxes.

It is not too soon to start thinking of projects for next year.

The committee gives preference to personal contact with the project from a parishioner so, if you know someone working at grass roots level in the third world, we would love to hear from you.

Also, we would like people with fundraising ability and contacts to start thinking now about what they could do to help. A couple of ideas are in the pipeline.

1. An Auction of Gifts and Promises (can you tap anyone for freebees?)

2. St Patrick’s Night Extravaganza (do you have Irish music, food or prize contacts?)

Look out for details of the AGM at the end of October and come and join us to make a difference.
