  Churches Together in Surbiton
Our parish has close connections with 'Churches Together in Surbiton', a group promoting unity among all local churches. Ministers meet every two weeks, and congregations are encouraged to share in worship, prayer and service to the community.

  Meditation
This is a simple form of prayer, but it requires committment and discipline. To meditate we sit in stillness of body and spirit and open our hearts to the eternal silence of God. We do not expect great religious experiences, but we do believe that the fruits of meditation should be found in our daily lives in the building up of the community. There are two Christian meditation groups in the parish. These meet weekly on Mondays at 10.30am and on Fridays at 11.30pm? All take place in the Prayer Room in the Parish Pastoral Centre.

  Parish Lentern Project
Lent gives the community of Our Lady Immaculate parish the opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with our brothers and sisters in the Third World. This is conveyed by prayer and giving. Money is donated to projects in all parts of the Third World, and each year four beneficiaries are chosen to be supported. Money is raised by social events, home collection boxes, and a very generous donation from our school. The social events offer an opportunity for our community to join together to enjoy themselves and give help to the less fortunate.

  Prayer Group
The prayer group meets in the Parish Pastoral Centre after the 9.30am Mass on Thursdays. Each week a special intention is prayed for as well as prayer of praise and thanksgiving. The needs of the world, parish, and the local community, the sick and the bereaved, our relatives and friends are also included in our prayers. The special intention is published in the Newsletter so that those who are unable to be present at the group are united with the group by praying in their own homes or places of work. We believe that this is a positive contribution to the spiritual life of the parish.

  Scripture Group
'Living the Word' is the name adopted by the group of parishioners who meet weekly on Monday afternoons from 2.30pm - 3.30pm in the Parish Pastoral Centre. The passages of scripture which are studied are those that are to be read out at Mass the following Sunday. As well as giving an insight as to the meaning of the passages it is an excellent preparation for listening to the Word of the Lord on Sunday. In addition the group considers how the information can and should affect their daily lives. Everyone is most welcome to come and join the group; no special knowledge of the scriptures is needed.
